It’s now 20 years since Nas released his classic album, Illmatic. On April 15th, he’ll drop the long awaited Illmatic XX (purchase here). And the day after, a documentary about the making of Illmatic will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Time is Illmatic was written by Erik Parker, directed by One9 and promises to “delve into the making of Illmatic; the social conditions that created it; and the music legacy passed down from Nas’ Mississippi-born father and celebrated jazz musician, Olu Dara.”
